If you can’t find Shadowrocket in the China mainland App Store, first check which account is used for Media & Purchases and its Country/Region. Then determine whether the issue is with search results, storefront availability, or purchase requirements. This guide is for iPhone and iPad users who haven’t purchased the app or are checking a past purchase. Start by reviewing your account; changing your device region or network won’t change your storefront.
Storefront, device region, and network location are different
App Store availability depends on the storefront associated with your account. A missing search result alone doesn’t prove that an app is no longer available, nor does it indicate that your device is incompatible. Search for the full product name, Shadowrocket, then check the product page and any message shown for your account’s storefront. Search results in the China mainland storefront don’t indicate availability in other storefronts.
Apple ID is now also called an Apple Account. The account shown at the top of your device may differ from the one used for Media & Purchases, so don’t stop at the name shown at the top of Settings. Check the account used for App Store downloads, purchases, and purchase history.
- Storefront: Check the account’s Country/Region. It determines the storefront in use, payment requirements, and content availability.
- Device region: Region under Settings → General → Language & Region mainly affects regional formats, such as dates and numbers. Changing it does not change your App Store account’s region.
- Network location: Your connection can affect whether a product page loads, but changing networks or proxy routes does not change your account’s region.
- Interface language: Changing your iPhone or App Store language to English does not automatically switch your account to another storefront.
How to check your Apple Account country or region
Check first; there’s no need to start the change process. The steps below use English interface labels; localized names may appear on devices set to another language. Menu locations may vary slightly by system version. If asked to verify your identity, follow the prompts using your own account.
-
Open your account page
Open Settings, tap your name at the top, and review the account details for the device. Use this page to find account settings; the device name and language don’t indicate your storefront.
-
Check the purchase account
Tap Media & Purchases and confirm that the account signed in is the one you intend to use for the App Store. If it differs from the account shown at the top, continue with the Media & Purchases account.
-
View your account details
Tap View Account, verify your identity if prompted, then open Country/Region. Note the country or region shown; you don’t need to tap Change Country or Region.
-
Check the App Store
Open App Store → Search and enter the full name, Shadowrocket. Check both the search results and product page; don’t rely on the name alone.
If you’re not signed in to Media & Purchases or can’t complete verification in View Account, resolve the account access issue first. Repeated searches, signing out, or changing payment details before confirming which account made the purchase can make the issue harder to identify. Never share your password, verification code, or full billing details with anyone.
Use the product page to identify search, availability, and purchase issues
Search helps you find an app; the product page is where you verify its name, developer, compatibility, and current purchase status. Open the App Store product page from our App authenticity check. The /us/ in the web address identifies the storefront for that link; opening it does not change your account’s region. After you’re redirected to the App Store, check the message shown for your account.
The developer should be Shadow Launch Technology Limited. Verify the product name, developer, and app ID together; don’t rely on a similar name or a rocket-shaped icon alone. Shadowrocket is a closed-source commercial app primarily for iPhone and iPad. Compatibility with Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision, along with system requirements, is as listed on the App Store page.
| What you see | What it tells you | What to do next |
|---|---|---|
| No search results | Only that the current search didn’t show the app | Check the full name and open the product page from the App authenticity check page |
| Message says the app isn’t available in your country or region | The app can’t be obtained through this storefront | Check the account’s storefront under Country/Region, and stop retrying the payment |
| The page loads, but payment fails | You’ve reached the purchase step; this isn’t simply a search visibility issue | Follow the prompts to check your payment method, billing details, and account status |
| Message says the device is incompatible | Your device and system requirements need to be checked | Check the compatibility section on the product page; don’t change your account region to troubleshoot this |
| The page keeps failing to load | It’s not yet clear whether this is a connection or storefront issue | First check whether other App Store pages load normally |
In short: note the message before deciding what to do next
If you see an availability message, note your current Country/Region and the exact wording. If payment fails, check the billing requirements. Treat these as separate issues; not every problem means the app can’t be found.
Check your account requirements before changing its region
Changing your country or region changes your account details; it’s not a search workaround. Only proceed through Apple’s process if you genuinely meet the requirements for the destination region and can provide valid payment and billing details. Don’t enter a false address to get a single app, and don’t assume that all content and purchase benefits will remain unchanged after switching.
Before starting a region change under Settings → your name → Media & Purchases → View Account → Country/Region, review each item below. Follow the requirements shown on your account page at the time; they determine whether you can proceed and what needs attention.
- Account balance: Check whether you have any remaining balance. A balance may prevent a region change. If you can’t resolve it yourself, contact Apple Support.
- Active subscriptions: Check for subscriptions that may block the change. Cancel them if required and wait for the subscription period to end; turning off renewal may not let you change regions right away.
- Pending transactions: Make sure pre-orders, rentals, pending refunds, and other transactions are complete before submitting a region change.
- Family Sharing: Being part of a Family Sharing group may restrict region changes. Check how leaving the group could affect your purchases and services before doing so.
- Payment and billing: Confirm which payment methods are accepted in the destination region and that you can provide an accurate billing address. A payment method accepted in your current region may not work in the new one.
- Existing content: Check which apps and content you’ll need to keep using. Availability varies by storefront, and having a purchase in your history doesn’t guarantee you can redownload it in another region.
Global Routing settings don’t change your storefront
People who already have Shadowrocket installed sometimes switch Proxy, Direct, or Config under Home → Global Routing, then return to the App Store to search again. These options control how traffic is handled after connecting; they aren’t Apple Account settings. They may change the network path used for a request, but they don’t change Media & Purchases → Country/Region.
The options below compare three settings relevant to troubleshooting. The recommendation assumes you already have a working configuration: keep your usual setup to avoid introducing extra variables while checking storefront availability. It doesn’t mean users who haven’t installed the app should configure a network first.
Config
RecommendedRequests follow the rules in the currently enabled configuration; their routes depend on rule matches and policies. Keep a configuration you’ve verified works, then check the App Store purchase account separately.
Best for: Checking your account while keeping your usual connection settings with a working configuration
Direct
Sends requests handled by the current routing mode directly. This can help check whether a loading issue is related to the proxy route; it won’t switch your account’s storefront.
Best for: Temporarily checking page loading when your local network can access the App Store normally
Proxy
Sends requests handled by the current routing mode through the selected proxy policy, rather than applying Config rules individually. Even if the product page loads this way, purchases must still meet the requirements of your account’s storefront.
Best for: Temporarily checking whether a proxy route is reachable using your existing service provider connection
On Demand starts a connection when its configured conditions are met; it doesn’t change your storefront either. If the page loads but explicitly says the app isn’t available in your country or region, don’t keep changing rules or switching Global Routing modes. Rules, subscription updates, and account region are separate settings.
Final checks before and after purchase
Purchase only after confirming the product, current storefront, and device compatibility. A one-time app purchase is not a service plan; buying Shadowrocket doesn’t include a service provider connection. Importing a configuration or subscription later assumes you already have your own service provider and subscription. This site does not provide, sell, or recommend those services.
- Before buying: Verify Shadowrocket, Shadow Launch Technology Limited, and app ID 932747118 on the product page. Check the price and currency shown in the App Store.
- Already purchased: First confirm that Media & Purchases is signed in to the account used for the original purchase. Then check the purchase history and list of apps available to redownload on your App Store account page.
- The page shows a price: Don’t pay again right away. Check the original transaction, purchase account, and current storefront. Having installed the app on this device before doesn’t prove that the current account has a record of the purchase.
- Purchase is listed, but you can’t get the app: Save the message shown on the page and check the storefront and compatibility. If you need further help, provide transaction details to Apple; never post account credentials on a public page.
After checking, you should be able to answer three questions: Which purchase account are you using? Which storefront is it associated with? What exactly does the product page say? Separating these details is more useful for diagnosing a missing search result than repeatedly changing your device language, network route, or configuration.
Verify the official App Store listing
Check the developer, app ID, and current storefront message, then complete your purchase through the App Store. If you’ve already obtained the app, continue with the first-time setup and connection steps.
